1. Choosing a niche: Do what you love, but make sure there's money in it!

There is a saying: Do what you love and the money will come.

That's not the whole truth, however.

You have to find an area you will enjoy working in. There is no point choosing to sell affiliate products for (say) cat care products if you hate cats.

If you choose a niche in which you have no interest whatsoever, you are likely to quit long before you make any money.

However, there has to be money in your niche!

You will need to do both: strike a balance between what you love, and where you may be able to make money.

2. Your product: Can you be proud of it?

A successful affiliate marketer has to be able to feel good about the product he or she is promoting.

Don't forget traditional values. Make your affiliate earnings in an ethical way, and your profit will be all the more valuable to you.

Ethics aside people will know if you are promoting something you don't believe in. Moreover, you won't feel good about yourself--- unless you are simply a crook!
